Today I filed the necessary paperwork to become a candidate for re-election as Oakland County Treasurer.

When I ran to be your County Treasurer I promised to protect property values, fight foreclosure and help Oakland County maintain fiscal responsibility during times of great financial peril.

Protecting property values by preventing the harm of mortgage foreclosure is the best way Oakland County can protect our bottom line.

The mortgage foreclosure crisis has had devastating effects on Oakland County families, neighborhoods and property values, draining our county of $14 billion in taxable value over the last several years.

Michigan and Oakland County would get millions of dollars under a judge's ruling Friday that national mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac illegally withheld real estate transfer taxes on foreclosed properties they sold from 2006 to 2011.
